Nonlinear planar oscillations of suspended cables subjected to external excitations with three-to-one internal resonances are investigated. At first, the Galerkin method is used to discretize the governing nonlinear integral–partial-differential equation. Then, the method of multiple scales is applied to obtain the modulation equations in the case of primary resonance. The equilibrium solutions, the periodic solutions and chaotic solutions of the modulation equations are also investigated. The Newton–Raphson method and the pseudo-arclength path-following algorithm are used to obtain the frequency/force–response curves. The supercritical Hopf bifurcations are found in these curves. Choosing these bifurcations as the initial points and applying the shooting method and the pseudo-arclength path-following algorithm, the periodic solution branches are obtained. At the same time, the Floquet theory is used to determine the stability of the periodic solutions. Numerical simulations are used to illustrate the cascades of period-doubling bifurcations leading to chaos. At last, the nonlinear responses of the two-degree-of-freedom model are investigated.  相似文献

In this paper, a theoretical investigation of nonlinear vibrations of a 2 degrees of freedom system when subjected to saturation is studied. The method has been especially applied to a system that consists of a DC motor with a nonlinear controller and a harmonic forcing voltage. Approximate solutions are sought using the method of multiple scales. It is shown that the closed-loop system exhibits different response regimes. The nature and stability of these regimes are studied and the stability boundaries are obtained. The effects of the initial conditions on the response of the system have also been investigated. Furthermore, the second-order solution is presented and the corresponding results are compared with those of the first-order solution. It is shown that by increasing the amplitude of the excitation voltage, the higher-order term in the solution becomes significant and causes a drift in the response. In order to verify the obtained theoretical results, they are compared with the corresponding numerical results. Good agreement between the two sets of results is observed.  相似文献

I compare application of the method of multiple scales with reconstitution and the generalized method of averaging for determining higher-order approximations of three single-degree-of-freedom systems and a two-degree-of-freedom system. Three implementations of the method of multiple scales are considered, namely, application of the method to the system equations expressed as second-order equations, as first-order equations, and in complex-variable form. I show that all of these methods produce the same modulation equations.I address the problem of determining higher-order approximate solutions of the Duffing equation in the case of primary resonance. I show that the conclusions of Rahman and Burton that the method of multiple scales, the generalized method of averaging, and Lie series and transforms might lead to incorrect results, in that spurious solutions occur and the obtained frequency–response curves bear little resemblance to the actual response, is the result of their using parameter values for which the neglected terms are the same order as the retained terms. I show also that spurious solutions cannot be avoided, in general, in any consistent expansion and their presence does not constitute a limitation of the methods. In particular, I show that, for the Duffing equation, the second-order frequency–response equation does not possess spurious solutions for the case of hardening nonlinearity, but possesses spurious solutions for the case of softening nonlinearity. For sufficiently small nonlinearity, the spurious solutions are far removed from the actual response. But as the strength of the nonlinearity increases, these solutions move closer to the backbone and eventually distort it. This is not a drawback of the perturbation methods but an indication of an application of the analysis for parameter values outside the range of validity of the expansion.Also, I address the problem of obtaining non-Hamiltonian modulation equations in the application of the method of multiple scales to multi-degree-of-freedom Hamiltonian systems written as second-order equations in time and how this problem can be overcome by attacking the state-space form of the governing equations. Moreover, I show that application of a variation of the method of Rahman and Burton to multi-degree-of-freedom systems leads to results that do not agree with those obtained with the generalized method of averaging.Contributed by Prof. R.A. The theory of homogenization which is a rigorous method of averaging by multiple scale expansions, is applied here to the transport of a solute in a porous medium. The main assumption is that the matrix has a periodic pore structure on the local scale. Starting from the pores with the Navier-Stokes equations for the fluid motion and the usual convective-diffusion equation for the solute, we give an alternative derivation of the three-dimensional macroscale dispersion tensor for solute concentration. The original result was first found by Brenner by extending Brownian motion theory. The method of homogenization is an expedient approach based on conventional continuum equations and the technique of multiple-scale expansions, and can be extended to more complex media involving three or more contrasting scales with periodicity in every but the largest scale.  相似文献

为克服应力约束下拓扑优化问题约束数目多、应力敏度计算量大的困难,提出 了应力约束化凝聚化的ICM方法. 在利用Mises强度理论将应力约束转换成应变能约束后, 提出了应力约束凝聚化的两条途径:其一为应力全局化的方法,其二为应力约束集成化的方 法. 由此建立了多工况下以重量为目标、以凝聚化应变能为约束的连续体结构优化模型,并 利用对偶理论对优化模型进行了求解. 4个数值算例表明:该方法具有较高的计算效率,得 到的拓扑结构比较合理,不仅适用于二维连续体结构,也适用于三维连续体结构.  相似文献

对延性单晶在拉伸载荷作用下的应变局域化和颈缩等非均匀变形过程进行了三维有限元数值模拟。将相关晶体塑性本构模型及一种新的数值积分方法补充到ABAQUS6.1商用有限元软件中。该方法的特点是,利用晶体塑性的动力学方程,获得一个关于晶体弹性变形梯度的演化方程,采用半隐式积分方案进行求解。本文推导出一种新的应力变本构矩阵。按此方式更新本构矩阵,计算速度和计算稳定性大大提高。加载方式,边界条件和变形程度等因素影响着滑移系的启动状况,这是平面模型所不能预测的。本文利用三维有限元方法模拟了不同取向下滑移系的启动状况,全面地考虑了FCC单晶材料12个可能滑移系在变形过程中的启动状况,合理地模拟了FCC面心立方单晶沿不同取向加载时晶轴旋转导致的应变局域化和颈缩等非均匀变形过程。  相似文献

The behaviour of a multi-degree-of-freedom vibro-impact system is studied using a 2 degree-of-freedom impact oscillator as a motivating example. A multi-modal model is used to simulate the behaviour of the system, and examine the complex dynamics which occurs when both degrees of freedom are subjected to a motion limiting constraint. In particular, the chattering and sticking behaviour which occurs for low forcing frequencies is discussed. In this region, a variety of non-smooth events can occur, including newly studied phenomena such as sliding bifurcations. In this paper, the multiple non-smooth events which can occur in the 2 degree-of-freedom system are categorised, and demonstrated using numerical simulations.  相似文献
